Elins UGM Team Champion National Innovation Technology Development prototype Penakar Rain Based Mikrokontroler

Team of students and Department of Electronic Instrumentation (Elins) FMIPA UGM consisting of Gallan Kusuma, Fauzi Marjalih, Akbari Indra Basuki and succeeded in reaching the national competition champion Innovation Technology Development prototype Rain Based Mikrokontroler. Competition held by Meteorological Agency, climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) on March 17-18 ago. UGM team successfully beat 10 finalists who came from Bandung Institute of Technology, University of Indonesia-Jakarta, University of Al-Azhar, Jakarta-Malang Brawijaya University, Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta, Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar, Ahmad Yani University-Bandung, and the State University Taruma -Jakarta.

One of the innovations of the prototype Elins form automatic rain wireless communication with radio frequency-based and online via the Internet as a remote monitor. Mentioned by Galan, the benefits of this prototype is to be transmision and process rainfall data directly to the monitor via online and can be displayed graphical statistics.

"The advantage this prototype can be used for a variety of sensors, can be used for data transmission and processing of data acquired by the computer," said Galan Shows in chatting with reporters in the room Fortakgama, Friday (24 / 4).

During this time of the data, such as in BMKG, are manual and have not yet acquired by the computer. In addition, the added Galang, this prototype can facilitate data processing in rainfall with the cheaper cost and time of data faster.

"We use the prototype with a very affordable cost, the transmission is also in all kinds of data. Processing data easier and scope can be expanded, "said student origin Cilegon, Banten, this.

From the invention of this prototype, reading sensor data can be directly stored in the flash memory to LCD display ago and sent to the computer from a remote. Thus, there will be no problem in sensor placement rain.

Gallan said in general rain tool that is used with the international standards using tipping bucket. However, in general, have problems in data acquisition. Moreover, the data still have a manual and have not yet acquired by the computer. According to him, this sensor can be placed anywhere, either in the middle of the field and in the place that make difficult to reach without system.

"The use of Radio Frequency (RF) on the equipment we install rain as the system of data transmission, making it possible for some of the data logger is connected to the computer," he explained.

Other team members, Fauzi Marjalih, said sampling of rainfall through this prototype can be done automatically and realistic in some places at once. Direct connection to the Internet, allows the data can be sent directly to the internet server in real time or periodically. As a result, rainfall data can be accessed by the public at any time and anywhere through internet.

"In the prototype we able to reach this area in a radius of approximately 200 meters. When added charged, it will be capable of reaching hundreds of kilometers, "he said.

What is expressed by Fauzi by lecturers as well as the Chairman of the Progran Studies Elins FMIPA, Dr. Agus Harjoko. According to him, the prototype made students relatively new and has not been developed in Indonesia. If developed further, can be used as information rainfall and multichannel hundreds of kilometers in radius. "By increasing the radio frequency, this type of prototype can transmit data of rainfall in the Mount Lawu, read live from Yogyakarta," he said.

Added Akbar, prototype rain this automatic data-processing statistics are processed. Data rate of rainfall received by the sensor are sent in each time. "This means every rainfall per millimeter in the tipping bucket will be reported automatically in the statistical data each second, minute, and date," said

Akbar further explain the mechanism of this prototype. Rainfall through the tipping bucket is sent via radio frequency. Each tipping bucket able to read 0.2 to 0.5 millimeter of rainfall. "For example tipping bucket five minutes each will be multiplied by 0.2 milli meters. Then the data is sent to the computer that displayed graphics, "he explained.

Gallan back add this prototype is not only to measure the degree of rainfall, but can also be used to detect air pollution, landslides, and earthquakes.

Success Party Politics

UGM political observer, Abdul Gaffar Karim, deplores the claims of success with the state policy exploitation of farmers who made the four political party in the political campaign. Form a political party claims of success and promise of agricultural management. Claims of success made by the management of agriculture Golkar Party, Democratic Party (PD), and Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS). While the promise, the implicit made by third parties and political party Gerindra above.

According to Gaffar, such claim is due to systematic confusion in political and governance in Indonesia. First, do not fit the mandate of power between the source and the pattern of power management. Second, the confusion between the presidential and parliamentary mechanisms. Third, absennya political ethics.

"The system we are not firm, about whether presidential or parliamentary system," said Gaffar in Monthly Seminar Center for Studies and Rural Regions (PSPK) UGM, Thursday afternoon (5 / 3).

Gaffar said further, even though President SBY selected and get a mandate from the people, he should be free to determine and select the ministers loyal to him to sit in the cabinet. Minister can only come from the Democratic Party.

In reality, however, rainbow cabinet formation SBY is based on the coalition parties, including PD, Golkar, PPP, PAN, and the MCC. This causes some ministers who come from each party claiming the success of its work with during the campaign. "Even ministers have claimed that as the initiator of welfare," Gaffar supplement.

There is a claim with the success of the exploit the farmers because the farmers is one of the two most arouse the target constituents in Indonesia. The other is the target voters.

"Voter is an investment for beginners selectivity constituents. Meanwhile, the farmers, the amount is still statistically significant, "he explained.

Told Gaffar, at this time the number of farmers in India occupying the largest portion in the society. Agricultural census data of 2003 show the number of head of household (family) farmers around 25.4 million. Systematically if it is assumed every household there are at least three lives that have the right voice, the voice that can be fed to reach 76.2 million.

"An amount sufficient to take a seat toward Capres RI 1 in one round," demolished the teaching staff this Fisipol UGM.

Gaffar also regrets that the PDIP mentions himself as the opposition party. This is also due to the confusion is the presidential and parliamentary mechanisms. According to him, the opposition party more commonly known in the parliamentary rather than presidential system.

"In a presidential system is not known to the opposition party. Conversely in the parliamentary system, opposition parties is paid. Disrupt the government in power, political and warm atmosphere through the mass media, "he said.

Gaffar also offend the House of Representatives, which is always scrutinize the performance of the executive with the call of the minister and the Director General to report the results of work. In presidential systems of performance assessment should be determined by the government of the people with the selected or not selected again in the next election.

In the same opportunity, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochammad Maksum, the claims of success by 4-5 political parties about food self-sufficient in 2008 as campaign material.

Majapahit Information Center

Students and lecturers of Archeology Department of UGM protested the establishment of the Majapahit Information Center, or also known as Trowulan Information Center (TIC), even though the government is now halting the establishment process. They said that the establishment of the TIC is damaging the Trowulan site and also violating the procedure since there was no research before the government conducted the establishment process.

The head of Archeology Department FIB UGM Prof Inajati Adrisijanti in the midst of the protest on Saturday (10/1) said that the government should move the TIC from Trowulan site. He admitted that TIC will be useful, but the government should establish TIC outside of Trowulan site, since there are so many valuable historical assets.

UGM’s Archeologist Dr Daud Aris Tanudirjo also agreed that the main mistake in the TIC establishment is that there was no archeology research conducted before the government started the process of establishment. He also added that even though government has halted the process, the damage caused by the misplaced pillars cannot be ignored.

Meanwhile the protest action coordinator Helmi anwar in his oration urge the government to review the TIC establishment policy, and to take the responsibility of the damaged site. After protesting at the Tugu Monument, the protest convoy marched to Vredeburg Fortress and ended the action by signing a sympathy banner.
